Town Hall Talks – The Highwaymen

April 13 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

$10

The Highwaymen is the name given to a group of 25 loosely associated African American artists who began a business venture in the 1950s. They traveled Florida’s highways selling their artwork from the trunks of their cars. Today their art is highly collectible, documenting Florida’s beaches, Everglades, and backwoods scenery compromised by development today. Join us for a lecture by Highwaymen expert Roger Lightle as he discusses their story and rise to success. Special guest Highwayman R.A. McLendon, who once picked beans in Boca Raton for a living will accompany Mr. Lightle.

Kindly RSVP due to space limitations: office@bocahistory.org / 561.395.6766 x101.
