FAU’s Theatre Lab is proud to present the world premiere of “The City in the City in the City” by Matthew Capodicasa from November 8-23, 2025!
Tess’s mother dies just before they are supposed to leave on a trip for the ancient city-state of Mastavia to retrieve a package left for them by Tess’s estranged father. Unwilling to give up the mission, Tess posts an ad online for a traveling companion with her mother’s exact name, and meets a new Laura, a mysterious woman eager to escape her life. This unlikely duo sets off on a journey to this strange city of doubles, mystifying bureaucracy, ancient graves, and a hidden world neither of them expected to encounter.

Highly theatrical, inventive, and wildly entertaining, this stirring new play offers audiences the opportunity to join two performers, playing more than thirty characters, as they embark on the adventure of a lifetime!

FAU's Theatre Lab presents Conversa
FAU’s Theatre Lab is proud to present the world premiere of “Conversa” by Joanna Castle Miller from February 7-22, 2025!
Young Joanna knows all the Jewish prayers – and how they’re really about Jesus. That’s because, many years ago, her mother, who wanted to be a rabbi, converted to evangelicalism through Jews for Jesus. As a result, young Joanna learns all the tricks of Christian missions, eventually becoming a missionary herself. But when something ancient draws her away, to the traditions she never learned and histories she never studied, she finds herself in a tiny village where, centuries ago, her father’s father’s father faced a similar crossroads and made a very different choice.
Castle Miller, a playwright, performer, and expert in the Jewish History of Spain, performs this one-woman, tour-de-force, auto-biographical tale of her upbringing in the evangelical church and subsequent return to Judaism. A special finalist with the Jewish Plays Project, the title references the term used to describe those Jews who converted to Christianity around the time of the Inquisition rather than face exile from their homeland. CONVERSA is about identity, migration, change, and the echoes of history which call us home.
Directed by Matt Stabile. Executive Producers: Mandell Weiss Charitable Trust, Linda and Joe Satz-Trustees.

Saturday, February 7, 2025, at 7:30 PM

FAU Theatre presents "Rumors"
The FAU Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to present “Rumors” from June 13-28, 2025!
Neil Simon's "Rumors” is a fast-paced comedy set in 1988 that revolves around four couples who gather for the 10th wedding anniversary at the affluent home of Deputy Mayor of New York, Charley Brock, and his wife, Myra. The misadventures begin with Charley being shot and Myra missing, and panic ensues as the guests attempt to keep the situation under control with increasingly elaborate antics to shield Charlie and, more importantly, themselves from scandal. Simon’s mastery of storytelling and comedic dialogue creates a satirical take on the lives of the affluent as he weaves a tale that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Town Hall Talks: Boca Raton Fire Engine No. 1
Join The Boca Raton Historical Society for the latest Town Hall Talk: “Boca Raton Fire Engine No. 1 “Old Betsy”: The First 100 Years,” featuring Thomas R. Wood on June 11, 2025!
The Town Hall Talks series, generously sponsored by the Charles and Elsie Gols Charitable Foundation, invites attendees to enjoy thought-provoking presentations by leading historians, curators, and experts in Boca Raton’s original Town Hall.
This Power Point presentation chronologically details the history of Boca Raton’s very first fire engine “Old Betsy,” from when it was manufactured in 1925, until now, 100 years later. The sequence of the story mirrors the Boca Raton Fire Chiefs, during each of those eras. Old Betsy earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, and the State of Florida Historic Marker Council approved a Historic Marker for “Old Betsy” in July 2024. “Old Betsy,” along with Town Hall are symbols of the humble beginnings of Boca Raton.
