A NeoDance Story Featuring Nestor Torres
The incomparable Nestor Torres returns to Festival Boca to present (and perform in!) A NeoDance Story, a passionate evening that seamlessly blends the exuberant sensuality of salsa with the fervent melancholy of tango.
NeoDance tells the story of the relationship between talent and passion, of overcoming life’s greatest challenges, of seizing opportunities and taking them to the next level. It is also a story about creating an impressive body of original work by following the path of dreams fanned by a true love of music and dance.

An Evening with Doris Kearns Goodwin
Festival of the Arts Boca is proud to present “An Evening with Doris Kearns Goodwin” at Mizner Park Amphitheater on March 3, 2025!
Festival favorite Doris Kearns Goodwin returns for a fascinating presentation about politics, history, and her new memoir, An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author, presidential historian, and television commentator’s most recent book artfully weaves together biography, memoir, and history in the emotional journey she and her husband, Richard (Dick) Goodwin embarked upon in the last years of his life.
The Goodwins’ last great adventure involved finally opening the more than three hundred boxes of letters, diaries, documents, and memorabilia that Dick (who had played key roles in Presidential administrations and campaigns in the 1960s) had saved for more than fifty years. They soon realized they had before them an unparalleled personal time capsule of the 1960s, illuminating public and private moments of a decade when individuals were powered by the conviction they could make a difference; a time, like today, marked by struggles for racial and economic justice, a time when lines were drawn and loyalties tested.
Their expedition gave Dick’s last years renewed purpose and determination. It gave Doris the opportunity to connect and reconnect with participants and witnesses of pivotal moments of the 1960s. And it gave them both an opportunity to make fresh assessments of the central figures of the time – John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Robert Kennedy, Eugene McCarthy, and especially Lyndon Johnson, who greatly impacted both their lives. The voyage of remembrance brought unexpected discoveries, forgiveness, and the renewal of old dreams, reviving the hope that the youth of today will carry forward this unfinished love story with America.

Documentary Film: Life In The Dog House
Festival of the Arts Boca is proud to present “Life In The Dog House” at Mizner Park Amphitheater on March 4, 2025!
Life In The Doghouse tells the inspiring story of Danny Robertshaw, Ron Danta and the remarkable stories surrounding the work they do at Danny & Ron's Rescue. Since 2005, when they rescued 600 dogs in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Danny & Ron have saved and found homes for more than 11,000 abused, abandoned, and starving dogs.
When Danny and Ron rescue a dog it lives with them, not in a kennel, but in their home until their perfect family match is found. At any given time, there will be as many as 75 dogs living in their private home. The feature documentary showcases their unique approach to dog rescue & adoption, while entertaining, educating and inspiring millions to make the right choices when it comes to animal adoption, care and safety.
Danny and Ron will join us after the viewing of the film for a discussion and update on their work.

Florida Man: Carl Hiaasen
Festival of the Arts Boca is proud to present “Florida Man: Carl Hiaasen” at Mizner Park Amphitheater on March 5, 2025!
Called “America’s finest satirical novelist” (The London Observer), Carl Hiaasen has been compared to Preston Sturges, Woody Allen, and S.J. Perelman (The New York Times). His 13 novels have been published in 34 languages. And, most recently, his novel Bad Monkey has been turned into a series on Apple TV.
“You wait long enough in Florida and the other shoe drops,” Hiaasen said in a recent interview with GQ, talking about the absurdity of politics and social issues in the state. The journalist in that interview summarized things well when he said:
“In the world of American publishing, [Hiassen] is one-of-one. If there’s any living American writer funnier, then they lack his edge and his readership. No one more politically pointed can touch the sleekness of his prose. If you want to call Hiaasen the Mark Twain of post-Vietnam America, you’ll get no arguments here.”
Hiaasen will join us for an evening of storytelling and commentary, which could well involve considerable shoe-dropping…

The Wick Theatre presents "No No Nanette"
The Wick Theatre is proud to present “No No Nanette” from March 13 to April 6, 2025!
Even though this lighthearted romp was written over 100 years ago, it still delivers that undeniable Broadway flair! It’s the Roaring 20’s and three couples sharing a cottage in Atlantic City find themselves amid a blackmail scheme. With music by Vincent Youmans – including the timeless hits “Tea for Two” and “I Want to Be Happy” – and a bevy of tap numbers, the wacky story is filled with romantic mishaps and comical misunderstandings. Expect stylish costumes, lavish sets and, of course, enough hoofin’ and soft-shoe that would make even Ruby Keeler smile.

FAU presents "The Frankenstein Project"
FAU Department of Theatre & Dance is proud to present "The Frankenstein Project" from April 11-20, 2025!
In 1816, Mary Shelley grieves her lost child and conjures a creature that looks a lot like her beloved husband. In the present, Mary Lattimore tries to write a paper about Mary Shelley’s book for her high school English class, but gets distracted by the new friendship she begins with an AI robot her father has created and brought home. The Frankenstein Project is about the monsters we battle, the monsters we create, and the monsters we (sometimes) are.
Following Theatre Lab’s 2022’s hit World Premiere production of her play Dorothy’s Dictionary, award-winning playwright E.M. Lewis returns to the FAU campus with her newest creation. The Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to provide a first home for this exciting new script - connecting stories of the past with those we’re living in today! Come enjoy this fully-realized workshop production of a new play!

Town Hall Talks: Boca Raton Fire Engine No. 1
Join The Boca Raton Historical Society for the latest Town Hall Talk: “Boca Raton Fire Engine No. 1 “Old Betsy”: The First 100 Years,” featuring Thomas R. Wood on June 11, 2025!
The Town Hall Talks series, generously sponsored by the Charles and Elsie Gols Charitable Foundation, invites attendees to enjoy thought-provoking presentations by leading historians, curators, and experts in Boca Raton’s original Town Hall.
This Power Point presentation chronologically details the history of Boca Raton’s very first fire engine “Old Betsy,” from when it was manufactured in 1925, until now, 100 years later. The sequence of the story mirrors the Boca Raton Fire Chiefs, during each of those eras. Old Betsy earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, and the State of Florida Historic Marker Council approved a Historic Marker for “Old Betsy” in July 2024. “Old Betsy,” along with Town Hall are symbols of the humble beginnings of Boca Raton.
Doors open at 6:00pm for check-in and refreshments. Lecture begin at 6:30pm.

FAU's Theatre Lab presents "two of us on the run"
FAU’s Theatre Lab is proud to present “two of us on the run,” a play by Steve McMahon, from February 1-16, 2025!
J and C are bored small town American teenage girls who go on the run to find the ‘real’ America and themselves. They procrastinate and fantasize about the best way to run away from home, debate the fundamentals of feminism and what to do once they’ve left home and hit the road. On the open road, reality and fantasy blur. They rob banks, make bombs and discuss sexual, class and gender politics. They meet Brian, an enigmatic bartender, leading to a conclusion where they might fall in love, might commit acts of terror, might kill people, or might just breathe in the night air and decide to go home.
