Begin at the Boca Raton Museum of Art touring the immersive Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru exhibition and then spend the day exploring Andean culture at FAU!
“Andean Connections: Culture and Nature Through Time” will include keynote lectures by Peruvian archeologist, professor, and author Henry Tantaleán as well as Northwestern University professor of anthropology Mary Weismantel, who will discuss her book Playing with Things: Engaging the Moche Sex Pots.
Enjoy music and dance performance by traditional Andean performers Kuyayky.
Listen to a panel of FAU scholars’ research on the greater Andean Region: “The Manteño Civilization of Coastal Ecuador” by Valentina Martinez; “Ancient Andes in Colonial Spanish Literature” by Michael J. Horswell; “Andean roots of 20th Century Salasacan Culture” by Rachel Corr; and “Contemporary Manabi Culture” by Michael Harris.
Explore the FAU-Smithsonian Exhibition: “The Great Inka Road: Engineering and Empire.” The exhibition will be on display in the Schmidt Center Gallery Public Space from Friday, Nov. 19 through Saturday, Feb. 26.
