Luna's Annual Story Writing Contest

Participate in Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and Boca Raton Public Library’s Annual Story Writing Contest for Luna!

Every summer, Luna comes back to the beach where she was born to visit her friends at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. This year, however, she is taking an adventure!

Where will she go? Who will she meet on her way? We want to hear from you!

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and the Boca Raton Public Library are excited to announce the third annual Luna’s Story Writing Contest! They are calling on young authors to write an original story about Luna, our green sea turtle ambassador.

Stories will be reviewed and graded by Gumbo Limbo and Library staff. One winner will be selected from each age group (ages 6-8, 9-11, and 12-15). Winning stories will be featured in a special Story Time program at the Boca Raton Public Library, and authors will receive a prize package sponsored by the Friends of Gumbo Limbo.

How to Submit

  • All stories must be original from the child, and not published elsewhere

  • Stories may include illustrations (in fact, we encourage it!)

  • Stories should be typed, or include a typed transcript (parents may help)

  • Fill out and include a copy of the Luna’s Annual Story Writing Contest Application

  • Email PDF or scanned copy of story with Application to Christie at ccollins@myboca.us

Stories must be submitted by end of day on Sunday, July 25, 2021.

Winning authors will be contacted within the first two weeks of August 2021.
